Lessons
I've been doing quite a bit of thinking about artists who have chosen to ask for compensation for their work instead of demanding to be payed. a few musicians are allowing fans to download their music on a pay-what-you-like basis. This allows the artist to receive 100% of what the fan views the value of the album to be and allows fans with limited income to enjoy the music without worrying about breaking any laws. I'm going to try and apply this model to my guitar lessons. The gives me the advantage of being able to pick up more students who may not quite be willing or able to pay my regular lesson fees without lowering them across the board. I posted a craigslist ad a few days ago and have had one response. I will continue to renew that ad and report back any findings here!
